Mother's Day Craftivities - Simple and Ready To Go

Keep calm. Don’t freak out. This is just a gentle reminder that Sunday is MOTHER’S DAY! If you’re anything like most teachers this time of year, then Mother’s Day just snuck up on us. Have no fear because it’s not too late. We are here to bring you some super cute last minute Mother’s Day craftivities that your students will have a ball creating!

You can always count on Bonnie from @iheartsteam to literally have whatever you are looking for and Mother’s Day is no different. Bonnie created the most ADORABLE Thumbprint Stories activities which is so simple and so sweet. These templates are literally hassle free and include: 6 story starters, 2 fold-able story books, and 6 art pages. Think of how much fun your students will have creating their own Thumbprint Story with little to no help from you.

Next, up comes from @charlestoncraftandcanvas and it’s one of my FAVORITE gift ideas EVER. Simply pick up some white canvas boards from your local craft store or even a Walmart will have some and use your school’s stash of tempera paints to create a design of choice.

So maybe you’re reading this on a Wednesday and think there’s no way this can be done by Friday afternoon. Wrong. If you have time today to run to the store for the canvas boards, then by all means go for it. If not, then tomorrow when you go to school find a small section of time where students can sketch their drawings. This will save so much time on Friday. Then, if you can double up a lesson such as phonics you can then use this time on Friday to allow for the creating to happen. Send home some tissue paper with your students so they can wrap it on Saturday when it’s completely dry.

Our final super cute Mother’s Day craft activity comes from @mummy_to_laylabelle. You can use her reel to create origami flowers in a little pot. You literally could do this activity with only construction paper if you are short on time and materials. And let’s face it, what mom doesn’t love getting flowers from her children. Beyond that, so many students love learning origami that they will probably want to make multiple pots for the other women in their lives.

So there you have it! These are all three AMAZING Mother’s Day craftivities that can be completed before the end of the week. If you are still on the lookout for a poem or quote, please let us know and we’ll be happy to do the searching for you. Students love making crafts for their moms and moms love whatever the students make. No matter what activity you decide to choose, try to let your students bring their own uniqueness to the project.
